Water-based paints feel altogether more playful and light-hearted than oils – but perhaps this is because my paintings in watercolour and acrylic tend to be more decorative and filled with pattern than those I do in oils. I also tend to work intuitively. Abstract landscapes unfold, usually with a restricted palette of only three primaries, black and white.
